This interactive notebook is the nonfiction companion for my TpT top seller Interactive Reading Literature Notebooks. If you prefer a spiral bound hard copy, find that listing here. After learning about interactive notebooks two summers ago, I resolved to use this technique for every concept I taught to my 6th, 7th, and 8th grade literature students. Now that I’ve used this in my classroom for over a year, I have compiled all of my interactive notebooking lessons for teaching nonfiction text strategies here. You will find that all of the lessons and pages in my notebooks are truly interactive, not just worksheets to color and glue into notebooks. Each of the 14 lessons includes a photo of the finished product, teacher’s notes, detailed teacher’s instructions (with many photos), and student pages (templates). You will find that all of the information needed to begin teaching these concepts is in here. This is NOT simply a product full of templates and organizers that require hours of research and prep time - I have included all of that information for you! I have also included a version of each template that is blank so you can adapt when necessary. I’ve included the Common Core alignment for Reading Informational Text for grades 4-8 and included that in the preview file as well. There are 14 original nonfiction passages included so you will not need to go out and find text for your students to study with each lesson. Some lessons also include links to other nonfiction articles that can also be used with the lesson. When linking to outside articles, I have included answer keys so that all of the work and research is done for you! Everything that you see in the preview thumbnail pictures is included in this notebook, ready to teach in your classroom right away. I've also added a PowerPoint file that includes ALL of the blank templates from this notebook in a format that you can edit digitally. If you are reasonably fluent in PowerPoint and know how to add text boxes and insert images, you can easily edit any template for use in your own classroom. **UPDATE** 12/16/13 - TEKS alignment added to the end of this document.
